South Super-Regional Championship for Robotics Held in Athens, Georgia
This past week, March 23rd – March 25th, the CyberSharks of the Palacios High School Robotics team met and competed against seventy-two other teams from Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, and Georgia. Texas was the most represented state with a total of sixteen teams competing.
Even though CyberSharks are not going on to compete at the World Championship in Houston, Texas on April 19th – April 22nd they still were able to meet some wonderful people and make connections throughout the south. It was an exciting trip to say the least. The students were able to tour the University of Georgia and historical downtown Athens in their spare time with their sponsors.
Clayton Stuhrenberg will go on to World to compete for the prestigious Dean’s List Award. This award is given to those who represent what FIRST means. Dean’s List nominee finalists are student leaders who have led their Teams and communities to an increased awareness for FIRST and its mission. The finalists have also achieved personal technical expertise and accomplishment. It is the intention and hope of FIRST that these individuals will continue on, post-Awards, as great leaders, student alumni, and advocates of FIRST. We would like to congratulate Clayton and wish him the best of luck at the FIRST World Championship in Houston, Texas on April 21st.
